The Home Library: Take-Back, Recycling, and Disposal

At The Home Library, we want everyone who purchases from us to be able to ensure their old products are disposed of responsibly. That’s why The Home Library is implementing the Take-Back Scheme so that together, we can help increase the number of end-of-life electric products that are recycled. We’ve partnered with Waste Experts to make sure your old products never end up in landfills.

Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment can end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination, harming wildlife and human health.

The Take-Back Scheme

Waste electrical products (WEEE) can be sent to The Home Library for recycling and disposal when you purchase a new product from The Home Library, on a like-for-like basis. For example, if you purchase a table lamp from us, we will take back your old table lamp for recycling and disposal. You have 28 days from the date of purchase of your new product to return your old waste electrical product. The Home Library is not obliged to take back any product which is not equivalent or similar to the new product being purchased from us. Please email us at contact@thehomelibray.com if you would like to use this service. Any transport costs will be at the expense of the consumer using this service.

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

Your Personal Data Protection

Electrical and electronic products (WEEE) may contain personal user data, depending on the type of product. For example, these may be appliances that are wifi connected or can be controlled by an app. The end-user is responsible for deleting the data on the waste electrical and electronic products prior to disposal.

där Lighting Ltd t/a The Home Library is a member of the Producer Compliance Scheme WERCS, which collects and recycles waste electrical products (WEEE) on our behalf. Our producer registration number is WEE/AE2583ST.
